Studio defaults: Green guitar for clean, Black guitar for crunch, and Emilyguitar for high-gain rhythm, lead, and tight rhythm. Changing a sound pauses playback and keeps your position, tempo, and loop.
Selections save automatically. “Follow the tab” follows its clean, overdrive, distorted, and muted MIDI programs.
Sample credits Emilyguitar and Black And Green Guitars - Karoryfer Samples. Emilyguitar played and mapped by D. Smolken; Black And Green recordings by Brian Wood. Original recordings released under CC0 1.0. Compact soundfont conversions and tone processing by Jonathan A. Corona. Full notices and source links are in Privacy & licenses → Guitar sample credits.
These compact presets use one velocity layer and one take per sampled pitch, with baked drive, EQ, and lead delay. They do not reproduce every original library articulation. Written palm mutes shorten the sound; they do not switch to separate palm-mute recordings. Long sustains remain limited by the recordings. METAL-GTX and Standard Guitar by Unreal Instruments are not bundled: their publisher requires permission to modify or redistribute sample data.

Fretting hand Thumb-over suggestionsAutomatic · chord shape and moving bass Only when written in the tab Prefer thumb-over when reachable 0 = thumb; 1-4 = index through pinky. Suggestions use this bar and the next. Open strings stay open. Thumb bass assigns fretted sixth-string notes to thumb 0, overriding written fingers on that string; other written fingering is preserved. Choose the option that fits your hand.
Listen & wait SensitivityStrict · stronger signal, longer hold Balanced · quieter notes and natural strums Sensitive · soft input and shorter holds
Bend-friendly matchingAccept pitches within the bend range written in the tab, including pre-bends and releases. This helps you move through a phrase; it does not grade the bend’s full motion or timing. Unbent notes still need their target pitch.
Chord matching combines notes across a short strum window. All required pitch classes must be heard. Pick notes individually if needed, or use Skip target for a difficult ornament. Sensitive mode may react more to noise; choose Strict if it advances too easily.
Your setup, remembered Settings save automatically in this browser. Recent tabs are private copies on this device, with up to 20 tabs and 80 MB kept. Older copies may be removed to make room. Nothing is uploaded. Keep your original tab files.
Export your settings to move them to another device or protect against browser cleanup. Backups include preferences and practice positions, but not tab files or audio. Importing replaces your preferences and reloads the studio. Microphone selection stays specific to each device.

Current bar + White LEDs shows only upcoming targets. They clear after playing, unless the same position is needed again in this bar. Seeking backward or looping restores them. This follows tab playback; Listen & wait advances only when you match the target.
Enable the switches above the fretboard to use these previews. With both enabled, song notes overlay the fret guides; current notes overlay both. The smallest nonzero LED value is 1; visibility depends on your hardware and room. Original Fret Zealot LEDs cover frets 0-14.
Settings save automatically. Previews pause in Live mode. In finger-color mode, a position used by different fingers across the preview uses the Unknown color.

Made for focused practice × A browser practice app using alphaTab 1.8.4. Your tabs and audio stay on your device.
Listen & wait Choose a browser microphone or USB guitar audio interface. Enable Listen & wait to hold the highlighted target until the correct pitch is stable. No microphone audio is recorded or uploaded. Practice & settings offers Strict, Balanced, and Sensitive matching, plus written-bend assistance. Bent notes are accepted within their notated range; this does not grade the bend trajectory. Playback audio, count-in, and metronome are paused in this mode.
Chord match is experimental: it checks the expected pitch classes, not the precise string voicing or doubled octaves. Clean direct guitar input is preferable. If a strum is not recognized, play the highlighted notes individually. Mute briefly before repeating the same note or chord. Noise, distortion, bends, and weak notes can reduce accuracy. The app cannot tell which string produced a pitch.
The original Fret Zealot BLE SDK does not document microphone streaming. An onboard microphone on newer hardware is not treated as a browser audio input unless the browser exposes it as one.
Tuner & Live mode The chromatic tuner works with any selected browser microphone or audio interface. A4 = 440 Hz; green means within 5 cents. Select a string to lock the target to the track tuning or choose Auto. Pluck one string at a time.
Live mode estimates notes and common chords without following a tab. Highlighted positions are possible fingerings, not a measurement of your hand. Chord detection is experimental. This version uses browser audio capture. No software input monitoring is enabled. Native ASIO is not included in this edition.
Guitar Pro compatibility GP3, GP4, GP5, GP6 (.gpx), and GP7/GP8 (.gp). The app inspects file content and the embedded GP version. Unknown or newer .gp families are rejected. Successful import does not mean every engraving or audio feature is reproduced.
Guitar Pro 8 backing audio and proprietary RSE sounds are not used. Playback defaults to sampled electric guitars by Karoryfer Samples, with clean, crunch, high-gain, and lead tones. Choose Guitar sounds to change the library or save a tone for each track. These are compact guitar presets, not a complete General MIDI orchestra; non-guitar timbres are approximate and percussion uses a click.
Original Fret Zealot Uses the manufacturer’s BLE service and 4-bit RGB commands. Six strings, frets 0-14. The virtual fretboard supports 24 frets; out-of-range notes are not sent to the LEDs. Physical connection, color appearance, and latency need verification with your device.
Colors follow pitch or fretting finger. Ghost fingers show tab-specified fingering when present and suggested fingering otherwise. Suggestions favor common chord shapes and compact positions; they are not guaranteed to suit every hand or musical passage. A long finger across strings indicates a barre. The translucent hand includes a palm, rounded fingers, nails and knuckle creases; the thumb wraps around the string-6 edge. Unknown fingers use cyan. 0 means thumb. Open strings need no finger. Both switches save automatically. Chord anticipation analyzes the selected track locally against an expanded chord-shape dictionary, including partial shapes, arpeggios and movable shapes. It uses neighboring bars to reduce unnecessary finger changes and respects Thumb bass mode. The current bar still shows a sequence of beats and suggested hand shifts. Wait for Full track analyzed to appear. Faint numbered outlines are a plan for successive notes, not one chord to hold. The anticipation switch also saves. The display and hardware receive the same RGB palette; screen and LED brightness may differ.

LEDs indicate tab fingering positions, including ties; they do not animate bends, slides, or individual tremolo strokes.

Your browser studio × Open your own Guitar Pro file or start with First light. Use Tools for sounds, tuner, inputs, recent tabs and settings. On a phone, More below the playback controls opens loops, count-in and metronome.
On iPhone and Android Use a current Safari or Chrome browser. Add this page to your Home Screen for an app window. Turn your phone sideways for a wider fretboard. Tabs and local settings work without an account.
Microphone and guitar input Enable Tuner, Live mode or Listen & wait and allow microphone access. Inputs depend on your phone, adapter and browser. Use Audio inputs to choose from the devices the browser exposes. Native ASIO and direct input monitoring are not available. Chord matching remains experimental.
Physical LEDs Original Fret Zealot control requires Web Bluetooth, typically Chrome on Android or a supported desktop browser. Safari on iPhone does not provide it. The virtual fretboard and other practice tools work independently of the LEDs. Physical hardware still needs testing.
Local storage and offline practice Revisit using this same browser to keep your setup. Once the app and selected sound library finish downloading, they can be cached for offline practice. Browser storage is optional and may be cleared. Export settings and keep original tab files. First use requires internet. The app pauses and stops microphone capture when moved to the background.
