Release notes for Green Guitarist Studio. Explore the changes to your practice experience, one version at a time.

Version 0.6.11 Latest

One thumb, in the right place

  • Fixed thumb-active hand poses that could show an extra thumb above the fretboard. Only the short lower thumb is shown when it is fretting a bass note.
  • The fix applies to the Windows app and web studio, including the translucent hand view on iPhone. Normal hand poses and the other four fingers are preserved.

Version 0.6.10

A neoclassical study to explore

  • Green horizon is now an original E minor etude with full chords in every lead-track measure, flowing arpeggios, harmonic-minor runs and a diminished-chord resolution.
  • Explore 16 measures up to fret 18, with written fingerings and a separate bass-and-chord rhythm guitar part. Choose Explore demo to load the updated study.
  • Find release notes in the Windows Help menu, the studio sidebar and the website. Changes are grouped by version, without dates.

Version 0.6.9

Arrange your studio directly

  • Drag pane headers to rearrange your practice space without leaving the studio.
  • Drag either bottom corner to change pane width and height. Place tablature beside or above the fretboard, and keep your layout between sessions.
  • Expand a pane to fill the window, then restore it with Escape. Keyboard movement, keyboard resizing and Reset layout are available.

Version 0.6.8

Make room for your practice

  • Customize the order and size of the song, track, listening, fretboard, tablature and playback panes.
  • Save your layout with your other preferences and include it in browser settings backups.
  • New illustrated layout help and guidance for Listen & wait with a microphone or guitar audio interface.

Version 0.6.7

Clearer hands and learning guides

  • Improved finger proportions, thumb-grip clearance and finger selection for wide bass and treble positions.
  • Introduced the original Green horizon practice study with two guitar tracks and notes reaching fret 18.
  • Refreshed app screenshots, illustrated help topics and information about using an original Fret Zealot.

Version 0.6.6

Find the shape behind the notes

  • Chord anticipation analyzes the selected track against a chord-shape dictionary to suggest more consistent positions across arpeggios and neighboring bars.
  • Chorded Playing can include one extra bar when looking for a held shape. Thumb bass mode is included in the analysis.
  • Improved mini-barre poses and the thumb-active grip. Rapid setting or track changes discard outdated analysis.

Version 0.6.5

Finger guidance on smaller screens

  • Adjusted translucent hands and note alignment for iPhone-sized browser layouts.
  • Improved hand positioning across fret views, orientation changes and playback.

Version 0.6.4

Tabs and playback together

  • Fixed imports for GPX scores whose guitar tracks did not have tablature enabled.
  • Synchronized the moving tab cursor with audio playback, including speed changes, seeking and looping.
  • Updated the website slideshow with app captures showing the full hand guidance.
